Current surveys are being undertaken to monitor the size and health of the remaining far south coast koala population and to map its genetic diversity. Fresh scats are sent to the University of Sydney for analysis and the information is used to make decisions relating to land and fire management that could have an impact on the future of the koalas.

The next opportunity for volunteers to join the survey team is Wednesday 27 and Thursday 28 July, from 8.30am to 3.30pm. Meet at the corner of Whittles Rd and the Tathra-Bermagui Rd, Wapengo.
