Bruce Pascoe
Bruce Pascoe will be the guest speaker at the Far South Coast Landcare Association’s Annual General Meeting this year to be held on 13 October from 5.30pm at the Landcare Office at 71 Auckland St Bega.
Bruce is a Bunurong man and a member of the Wathaurong Aboriginal Co-operative of southern Victoria. His books include Dark Emu, which won the NSW State Government Book of the Year Award and puts forward an argument for a reconsideration of the hunter-gatherer tag for pre-colonial Aboriginal Australians. The evidence insists that Aboriginal people right across the continent were using domesticated plants, sowing, harvesting, irrigating and storing – behaviours inconsistent with the hunter-gatherer label.
The AGM will be held between 5.30pm-6.30pm, with all positions being declared vacant. The FSCLA welcomes new members to the committee. Please call Chris Post on 0411 594092 or the Landcare office on 6494 7856 if you would like to discuss the option of joining the committee.
Bruce’s presentation will follow at 6pm.
