In the Bega Valley we have an important remnant population of koalas in the coastal forests from Bermagui to Tanja. Many of you have joined survey teams to map the location of these koalas and are committed to their survival and flourishing.
The NSW Office of Environment and Heritage is currently seeking feedback from the community on how to develop an effective NSW Koala Strategy to stabilise and then start to increase koala numbers and is holding information sessions and receiving submissions until 3 March 2017.
In the Bega Valley there will be an information session by the Office of Environment and Heritage on Tuesday 14 February, 4:30pm – 7pm at the Bega Valley Commemorative Civic Centre. To confirm your attendance, visit the Eventbrite bookings site.
For those of you on the Tablelands, there is an information session in Cooma on Wednesday 15 February at 10.30am in the Cooma Library. To register for this session please email chis.allen@environment.nsw.gov.au
There are a number of ways to get more information and to contribute. Find out more by visiting the OEH “Developing a NSW Koala Strategy” page.
