We don\u2019t want to lose them in our region so the Atlas of Life is asking you to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.abc.net.au\/news\/2021-08-14\/gang-gang-cockatoos-decline-citizen-science-project-signals-help\/100371956\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener external\" aria-label=\"help with important research (opens in a new tab)\" data-wpel-link=\"external\">help with important research<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In order to establish their main habitat areas and their habits, we are asking people to record any Gang-gangs and Glossy Black-Cockatoos whenever they are seen, particularly if they are regular visitors.<\/p>\n<p>September and October are the best months to see them as they explore tree hollows and look for nesting sites.<\/p>\n<p>Record any sightings of these birds in the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.inaturalist.org\/projects\/atlas-of-life-in-the-coastal-wilderness\" data-wpel-link=\"external\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"external noopener noreferrer\">iNaturalist<\/a>&nbsp;database. You will need to&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/inaturalist.ala.org.au\/signup?return_to=https%3A%2F%2Finaturalist.ala.org.au%2Fprojects%2Fatlas-of-life-in-the-coastal-wilderness\" data-wpel-link=\"external\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"external noopener noreferrer\">register to add a sighting<\/a>&nbsp;and please join our&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.inaturalist.org\/projects\/atlas-of-life-in-the-coastal-wilderness\" data-wpel-link=\"external\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"external noopener noreferrer\">Atlas of Life Coastal Wilderness<\/a>&nbsp;project. Try and take a photo with whatever camera you have with you at the time. Even if you don\u2019t get a picture \u2013 and we know it\u2019s not easy \u2013 please record your sighting. We won\u2019t make the locations of any nests public to protect them.
